Apply for a NIRSA leadership position

NIRSA will hold elections this winter for President Elect and At-Large Director on the Board of Directors, as well as for the following Member Network positions: NIRSA Student Leader, Regional Student Leaders in all Regions, and Regional Representatives for Regions I, III, and V.

Stan Shingles, Assistant Vice President at Central Michigan University and NIRSA Board of Director’s President from 2015–2016, says, “Serving on the NIRSA Board of Directors allows you a unique lens into the inner workings of our association and profession.” Committed volunteers oversee NIRSA’s operations and services—they make the decisions that have a strong impact and establish the direction of the Association.

David Peters, Associate Director of Campus Recreation at Florida State University and a Region II Representative on the Member Network from 2015–2016, describes that impact by saying, “Volunteer leadership in NIRSA provides an exceptional opportunity to impact our profession. Involvement in the Member Network focuses that work at the state and regional level where our members are often highly engaged in local educational events and tournaments.”

Serving as a NIRSA leader not only benefits the Association, it leads to personal and professional growth. If you know a NIRSA member who would be an excellent fit for one of these roles, please consider making a recommendation by sending an email to any member of the NIRSA Nominations and Appointments Committee with the member’s name and institution. The Committee will contact recommended candidates to assess their interest and discuss the application process.
