The ERSL planning committee is thrilled to announce an open call for proposals for the 32nd annual ERSL Conferencesubmit your presentation proposal by Wednesday, December 6! The 2024 ERSL Conference will be hosted at the University of Alabama at Birmingham between February 15–17. We’d like to thank UAB for hosting us in the historic “Magic City.”

We are beyond excited to be able to work with the staff of CENTERS at University of Alabama at Birmingham to bring the Emerging Rec Sports Leaders Conference to the state of Alabama. Alabama is rich in history and with our theme “Against the Odds” we believe it is a perfect fit for the conference. Our theme represents not only the history of NIRSA, ERSL, and Alabama, but also the current state of campus rec as we all strive to be inclusive and serve EVERYONE no matter the barriers that may arise. As always, this conference is carefully planned so that our students leave feeling empowered through both formal and informal networking and learning opportunities. We hope to make this year the best ERSL yet!

ERSL Committee member Seneca Wilson, University Director of Recreation at UAB Birmingham, adds, “We are super excited to host the ERSL Conference at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. We can’t wait for our NIRSA family to experience the rich history, culture, and diversity of the Magic City.”

The Emerging Recreational Sports Leaders Conference is rooted in being a space for young professionals and soon-to-be professionals to connect with one another, share unique ideas, and develop skills that will serve them for years to come. As a NIRSA signature event, this is an experience designed to fit the needs of all who attend whether their goals are professional networking, learning more about the current industry, building friendships and mentorships, a little bit of everything, or something else!

We hope to see you in Birmingham! Consider submitting a presentation proposal by Wednesday, December 6!
