NIRSA associate member Teqball USA has signed a programming deal with ESPN to stream its 12 USA Teqball Tour events online. ESPN2 and ESPNU will also broadcast six highlight programs of the innovative, soccer-based sport.

The deal makes ESPN the first national television partner of Teqball USA, supporting the group’s goal to build momentum around the sport in the United States. NIRSA intramural and sport club professionals should take note of teqball’s growing popularity: The non-contact sport is gender neutral and can be played on a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces. And while ESPN will be broadcasting the sport Teqball – something of a mix between soccer and ping-pong – the game’s specially curved table (called the Teq Table) allows for multiple styles of play like Teqis (tennis), Teqpong (ping pong), and Teqvoly (volleyball).

NIRSA members curious about the sport can watch the 12-event USA Teqball Tour streaming on ESPN and check out Teqball USA’s recent post in NIRSA Connect.
