The NIRSA Championship Series is seeking applicants for soccer regional coordinator positions—apply today! Regional coordinators are responsible for the successful execution of NIRSA regional soccer tournaments and for ensuring the execution of league play. Some regional coordinators, depending on the region, have the opportunity to serve as a league commissioner who oversees additional volunteers. Other regional coordinators manage tournament communication with partnered regional leagues. Regional coordinators play a vital role in the success of the NIRSA Champ Series Soccer experience. Each NIRSA region has two regional coordinators who work together to execute all position responsibilities.

Let me guess, you’re thinking “I’m interested in this opportunity, but what does it take to be a regional coordinator?” We’re seeking current NIRSA professional members who have soccer experience working within a league, a regional tournament, or at the national championships. Experience within the NIRSA Champ Series can go a long way, but the intangibles are just as impactful.

Max Miller, Assistant Director of Athletics for Recreation & Wellness at Swarthmore College and a current Region I Coordinator, knows what it takes to be successful in this role. “A regional coordinator for the NIRSA Championship Series is someone who is a great communicator that takes the initiative to problem solve and be innovative,” he says.

Looking for more information about regional coordinator responsibilities? Please visit Play NIRSA. We’ll be searching for new coordinators in the following regions: Region II, Region III (1-year term), Region V, and Region VI.

We’re asking individuals who believe in the vision of a premiere championship experience for all students to invest in the Champ Series. As the Soccer Work Team Chair, I truly believe in the direction we’re taking the Series. And take it from Cybbi Barton, Program Manager of Club Sports and Esports at the University of Michigan and current Region III Coordinator, you should definitely consider applying to be a regional coordinator!

“I have been a part of NIRSA Soccer since 2013 and I have seen this organization grow in massive ways that create such an impactful experience for each soccer club’s leadership and participants. I wanted to apply to be a regional coordinator because I really value the experience we provide to clubs, but I also love the experience it provides me,” explains Cybbi. “Since serving as a regional coordinator, I have learned skills that make me a more effective administrator, it has built my confidence running a league and regional tournament, and it has grown my network more than I could ever imagine. We refer to NIRSA Soccer as a family constantly and it’s because it truly feels that way. I have peers all across the country that I can lean on because of my involvement with NIRSA Soccer and especially as a regional coordinator.”

Don’t waste any time in making your impact within the NIRSA Soccer family! Applications are due by Friday, January 31. Appointments will begin early March 2020.

Can’t commit to a regional coordinator position this year, but interested in hosting a NIRSA regional tournament in 2020 at your institution? Regional tournaments will be hosted in late October and typically run Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Applications open Monday, February 3 and will close Friday, March 20.
