Thought leaders from NIRSA, NASPA, and ACHA met in Washington, DC this past December to participate in a research summit on wellbeing.
The event was a first step in moving forward on the third “Call to Action” from the Health and Wellbeing in Higher Education: A Commitment to Student Success, which asked the signatory organizations to support resource and expertise sharing in the hopes of creating “a data framework from which to develop evidence-based activities to improve health and well-being of the entire campus community.”
Since the Summit, association staff collected and synthesized the great dialogue and brainstorming that took place on site. Attendees were then asked to review that work to ensure the thoughts of the day had been captured accurately and completely. They were also asked to start prioritizing the most immediate areas of need where the associations had the potential to be most effective.
Summit participants were then invited to discuss the results, as well as the research framework that was beginning to take shape.
These Associations want to hear from members
This framework draft is still in its early stages, and we want your input! It will be presented at NIRSA 2019 in the session “Health & Wellbeing in Higher Education: Moving the Commitment Forward Together.” This session will be held on Sunday, February 17 at 2:30 pm in Room 203 of the Convention Center.
Join representatives from NIRSA, NASPA, and ACHA to discuss how the associations are taking action on this important aspect of the Health and Wellbeing in Higher Education: A Commitment to Student Success. Contribute your ideas, input, and unique campus insights to this work!
Feedback from the interactive session at NIRSA will be used to inform the next draft of this work, which will be presented at the NASPA Annual Conference, and then again at the ACHA Annual Conference.
