NIRSA and NASPA’s statement, Health and Wellbeing in Higher Education: A Commitment to Student Success, highlights strategic commitments from both associations in pursuit of innovating, supporting, and fostering a holistic, integrated, and strategic approach to wellbeing from the association level to the institutional level.
In addition, crafting and signing on to this joint statement models the type of collaboration both NIRSA and NASPA recognize as essential to breaking down barriers within higher education and advancing this work. Collaboration is critical to integrated approaches to health and wellbeing and NIRSA and NASPA leaders intend to take the statement to other higher education organizations for their support.
Collaboration played an integral role in bringing this statement into being; it is a direct outcome of the NIRSA/NASPA Thought Leadership Forum on Wellbeing, as well as the ongoing, great work of members on their campuses.
With the recent adoption of the 2018-2021 Strategic Plan by the NIRSA Board of Directors, NIRSA intends to not only continue working in the wellbeing space, but to be a driving force in an integrated approach to health and wellbeing.
We are excited to have the diverse, talented NIRSA membership continuing the advancement of this crucial work. As always, stay tuned to NIRSA news for updates, resources, and ways to get involve—and be sure to share the forward-thinking work and new initiatives happening on your campus as well!
