The service of our members has immeasurably improved and enhanced the Association, and their generosity has had a profound and lasting impact on the entire profession. The NIRSA Annual Service Award recognizes the willingness of members to volunteer both time and talent and make a tangible impact with their service.

This year’s nominations should highlight service from the 2015-2016 academic year. Up to six professional members and up to three student members will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to NIRSA and the field of collegiate recreation.

Previous NIRSA Service Award winner Aaron Hobson reflects on the honor he received: “I was very humbled to receive the NIRSA Service Award and know that my commitment to the organization and its members did not go unnoticed. More specifically, the award was a personal confirmation that I have been able to give back to an organization that has given me so much as a young professional.”

JR Rathjens, another previous recipient, states: “Volunteerism is at the heart of what we do as an Association. The commitment to volunteering our professionals, Graduate Assistants, and students demonstrate and the passion with which they serve is truly motivating for me and makes me want to do my part as well.”

If you’ve witnessed outstanding service in the Association, we hope you will consider elevating it for Association-wide recognition and celebration by submitting a nomination  for the NIRSA Annual Service Award by November 15.
