Every year at the NIRSA Annual Conference, the Career Opportunities Center hosts hundreds of student and professional candidates applying and interviewing for jobs. In recent years, however, as hiring practices and schedules have changed and NIRSA continues to focus its efforts on developing skills that will benefit members in their careers inside and outside of rec, the NIRSA Board of Directors has approved a name change. The Career Opportunities Center will now be called the Career Services Center to better reflect the scope of its mission.
Candidates will still be able to search, apply, and interview for open positions, visit with employers at the job fair, get interview practice, and have their résumés edited. The 2018 Career Services Center will also feature, for the second year, mini-sessions on a range of career-building topics. Going forward, the Career Services Center Committee will continue to develop even more ways for candidates and employers to benefit from this valuable Annual Conference institution.
