The NIRSA Foundation is committed to supporting the NIRSA Research Grant Program. Grants are awarded in $2,000 and $10,000 amounts to researchers in the recreation field for projects that have the potential to make meaningful contributions to the collegiate recreation profession. This year’s grant award decision was particularly difficult given the many outstanding proposals received.
After a rigorous review by the NIRSA Research and Assessment Committee, the NIRSA Foundation is pleased to announce that this year’s grant recipients are:
Yvette Kell, CRSS of University of Missouri-St. Louis for her project titled: “An Exploration of Emotionally Intelligent Leadership in Collegiate Recreation Student Employees and Their Own Perceptions of Their Emotional Intelligence and Emotionally Intelligent Leadership.”
Deborah Shapiro, Ph.D., of Georgia State University for her project titled: “A Multi‐Institutional Comparison of Barriers and Facilitators of Campus Adapted and Inclusive Intramural Sports Programming for College Students with and without Disabilities.”
Results from these evolving projects will be presented at the 2019 NIRSA Annual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo taking place in Boston, MA.
The NIRSA Foundation and the NIRSA Research and Assessment Committee express their gratitude to everyone who submitted proposals for the grant program this year.
