Since 1979, the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) has developed standards to guide and assess program and service delivery in higher education. The Council consists of one or two representatives from various member associations—like NIRSA. These representatives enact the work of CAS through service on various committees. Currently, the Council has determined that various committees need more volunteers and have extended an invitation to NIRSA member professionals specifically to serve on those committees.
Standards Revisions Committee
Work with others to revise or create new standards.
Strategic Workgroups Committee
Work with others to help with organizational planning and implementing tactics to achieve the goals in our strategic plan.
Resource Development Committee
Work with others to create resources to help users successfully apply the CAS Standards.
Short Term Workgroups Committee
Work with others to support projects/tasks identified by the Council and to be completed within 3-6 months.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please complete and submit this form. Please consider what skills you would bring to CAS and what you wish to get out of your volunteer experience prior to completing the form. The appointment process will begin in July. If you have questions about these exceptional volunteer opportunities, please contact CAS Member at Large for Engagement Dan Bureau.
