The NIRSA Annual Conference Program Committee is excited to report that the educational content for NIRSA 2017—which is taking place in National Harbor, MD from February 21–24—is beginning to come into focus. One hundred and ninety-eight lead and co-presenters were recently notified of their proposal’s acceptance as part of the 2017 NIRSA Annual Conference program. Two hundred and fifty proposals for educational and roundtable sessions were submitted by subject matter experts from across North America and beyond.
With space and time capacities limiting the Program Committee to accept only 30% of the proposals received, the standard for 2017 sessions is sure to be extremely high. Each proposal was reviewed and scored by a peer review group comprised of subject matter experts from across the Association. We would like to thank the scores of NIRSA members who volunteered their time and expertise to refine the pool for a second committee review of sessions. Final selections were made by the Program Committee who make a concerted effort to provide balance among topic and competency areas.
On the NIRSA website you can learn more about how the professional competencies for leaders in collegiate recreation provide a framework for guiding professional training and development. The core competencies are the backbone of NIRSA’s educational offerings; attendees who participate in the educational sessions available at NIRSA 2017 can count on developing in the eight competency areas that are at the core of leaders in collegiate recreation.
Preconference opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks and registration is scheduled to open in early November. Stay tuned to the NIRSA News for all the latest developments.
