The NIRSA Research and Assessment Committee is currently accepting applications for the streamlined NIRSA Research Grant Program. The new format was launched at the 2016 Annual Conference and features two grant awards of $10,000 and $2,000 each. Both awards are intended to support NIRSA’s Research Agenda, which entails the development and dissemination of original scholarly research conducted at or for NIRSA member institutions.

The 2015 small grant awardee was Keith Howard of North Carolina State University for his projected titled “Race, Identity, and Belonging: Examining College Students’ Preferences for Sport and Active Recreation.” Keith will present his findings at the 2017 Annual Conference in National Harbor, Maryland from February 21–24.

The application period for the NIRSA Research Grant Program closes August 15 and selected grantees will be notified by October 1. The researcher(s) selected will have two years to complete their project. Additional information about eligibility, application procedures, and selection criteria is available on the NIRSA website.
