NIRSA will hold elections this winter for President Elect and At-Large Director on the Board of Directors, as well as for Member Network positions: NIRSA Student Leader, Regional Student Leaders in all Regions, and Regional Representatives for Regions I, III, and V.
Mallory Gohl calls serving as the 2013-2014 NIRSA Student Leader “an opportunity for me to give back to an association that has given me so much!” and Kathleen Hatch, 2013-2014 NIRSA President, says serving on the Board of Directors is “the single best decision I have made in my professional career.”

Committed volunteers oversee NIRSA’s operations and services—they make the decisions that have a strong impact and establish the direction of the Association.
When asked what she was most proud of accomplishing as part of the Member Network, Mallory had a hard time choosing just one decision or action. One of the many was the “mentorship program that the Student Leadership Team has overseen for the past few years.” She says “it was extremely rewarding to see those connections come to life.”
NIRSA’s dedicated and outstanding members are the driving force of the organization—and so the NIRSA Nominations & Appointments Committee wants your help to fill these important and influential positions with talented, thoughtful, and dedicated leaders who will help drive our Association forward!
Serving as a NIRSA leader not only benefits the Association, it leads to personal and professional growth. Laura Thomas, 2012-2013 NIRSA Student Leader, believes that “service with great people made, and makes, me want to be a better professional and a better contributor to my community.” Sarah Hardin, past NIRSA Region III Representative and Chair of the Member Network, echoes the benefits of serving: “The ability to meet more people in my region and nationally—the expanding of my professional network—was great!”
If you’re interested in one of these positions, apply by sending a résumé and a letter of application detailing your qualifications to elections@nirsa.org—applications are due by September 29. If you know a NIRSA member who would be an excellent fit for one of these roles, please consider making a recommendation by sending an email to NIRSA Nominations & Appointments Committee with the member’s name and institution. The committee will contact recommended candidates to assess their interest and discuss the application process.
