If you want to be a catalyst for action, generate results, and vet ideas in a highly-participatory think tank, consider submitting an application to serve on the NIRSA Assembly.

The Assembly is the leadership body of NIRSA that focuses on the dynamic and long-term needs of the collegiate recreation profession.

Earl Cabellon, Assembly member and Assistant Director of Student Personnel at University of Maryland, says that serving on the Assembly and “collaborating with dedicated NIRSA members, who have the same goal of moving the profession forward, has enabled me to think broadly about the impacts of collegiate recreation on our college campuses.” Additionally, he points out the outstanding mentoring experiences that have evolved out of his membership, saying, “It’s been an honor working with Laurie Braden and Darcy Bingham who have been inspirational leaders to me.”

The Assembly seeks energetic members with a capacity to contribute innovative ideas and who are committed to advancing the profession. Whether you possess a broad, working knowledge of the profession, strategic expertise, or a passion for current and relevant topics related to collegiate recreation, you are encouraged to apply! Terms begin on July 1, 2014.

Apply now to join the NIRSA Assembly!

There are positions open for both new and experienced NIRSA members:

The NIRSA Assembly is a great vehicle for contributing your talents and ideas, while learning from inspiring peers. Jessica Gentry, Associate Director of Programs at University of Illinois, says, “I’ve been fortunate to be involved in the Assembly since its inception. I’ve enjoyed getting to know and work with so many passionate campus recreation professionals with varying backgrounds and experiencing the way we each challenge ourselves to better our profession.”
