The joint venture of the 2013 ACPA & NIRSA co-located conferences in Las Vegas sparked the “Get to Know Us” campaign.

This initiative provided an opportunity for ACPA members to receive a complimentary year of NIRSA membership and for NIRSA members to receive a complimentary year of ACPA membership.

As part of the on-going collaboration between our organizations, a free webinar, set for December 4, 2013 at 2:00pm EST, has been created to discuss the role of campus recreation in student affairs and in the overall development and wellbeing of college students. The conversation will include an examination of the administrative placement of campus recreation, the role of the profession now and in the future, and include a look to the future direction of collegiate recreation.

NIRSA and ACPA shared the stage in Las Vegas during our 2013 Annual Conference.

This webinar will be organized in a panel format with representatives from both associations. The following NIRSA members and leaders in collegiate recreation will be on the panel:

  • Stacey Hall, Director of Campus Recreation at University of New Hampshire, and member of NIRSA’s Research and Assessment Committee
  • Paul Milton, Associate Professor at Ashland University, and editor of the Recreational Sports Journal
  • Linda Knight, Director of Campus Recreation at William and Mary, long-time NIRSA member

The panel will address three to four rounds of moderated questions before opening up for participant questions.

As NIRSA members, one of our core beliefs is that recreation programs are advanced and strengthened through ongoing education, resource sharing, and networking; the opportunities for professional development, learning, and engagement found in ACPA membership present a fantastic opportunity to put that belief into action.Be sure to take advantage of this free webinar to learn more about how NIRSA and ACPA have benefitted from each other and what the future entails.
