NIRSA’s Collegiate Recreational Sports Participation & Facilities Survey provides participation data on campus recreation programs and highlights trends from a national perspective.
This data collection effort, part of the NIRSA Research Schedule, will provide members with updated participation data to both benchmark against and learn from.
NIRSA institutional member Directors will receive a study participation request in October.
Participation data was last collected in 2010. Among the many insights and useful statistics, here a few data examples that proved particularly useful to members:
- Average number of women’s 5v5 basketball teams per campus = 14
- Average number of 1-day adventure trips per campus = 10
- Average number of sport clubs per campus = 22
- Average attendance for cycling classes = 18
NIRSA institutional member Directors will receive a study participation request in October via email. Every institutional member’s participation is crucial, as full and continued participation greatly benefits the profession and our ability to share knowledge; be sure that your institution isn’t left behind!
