National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day, or Rec Day, is a celebration of NIRSA’s founding date—February 22, 1950. Every year, the Rec Day festivities grow as NIRSA members continue to find new and exciting ways to celebrate the occasion, and the rich tradition of collegiate recreation, on their campuses. Whether it’s hosting a Zumba party or a dance-off, NIRSA campuses know how to get their rec on!

For over fifteen years, Rec Day has been a February tradition—a reason for some fitness fun on a late-winter day. While February is still months away, it’s not too early to start making plans for Rec Day 2015! Use the #RecDay hashtag on twitter to share ideas with other participating campuses, and start making plans for your 2015 celebrations.

Stay tuned to the NIRSA website for the new Rec Day logo as well as other Rec Day details, which will be coming in January. We’re excited to start gearing up for this wonderful occasion!
