The call for programs will launch in Spring 2019. More information will be posted here as it becomes available.

welcome, volunteers

This is a team effort

Volunteers like you help to make the conference better every year.

The NIRSA Annual Conference & Campus Rec & Wellness Expo is enriched in no small part through the generous contributions of the time and talent of our amazing membership. The benefits of volunteering are familiar to returning volunteers; but if you’ve never offered your service at the NIRSA Annual Conference, you might be surprised to learn that your own conference experience will be enriched as much as all the people you serve.

Accepting Applications

  • Program Proposal Reviewers
All potential reviewers must be current NIRSA members, must have broad knowledge and experience in the field, and be familiar with the NIRSA Core Competency framework. Program reviewers are asked to review, score, and provide constructive feedback to presenters.

Assigned reviewers will need to be available to review approximately 20-40 education sessions mid-late July. While the amount of time it takes to review sessions varies person to person, it’s typically around a 5–8 hour time commitment.

  • Roundtable Organizers & Leaders
The Program Committee is recruiting NIRSA members to organize and lead the selected roundtables at conference.  Each roundtable will have members filling the following positions:

An organizer who works in the weeks prior to the Annual Conference to solicit feedback from the membership on key issues for discussion and constructs an overall outline of topics for the session.

A moderator who actively leads the roundtable session at the conference, potentially with the assistance of other members facilitating discussion in smaller groups within the session.

A recorder who takes notes of key discussion points during the roundtable to distribute to members after the conference via the NIRSA web site and related Community of Practice online resource pages.

Complete the Roundtable Staff Interest Form to indicate your interest and to be alerted when the formal application for roundtable positions becomes available this fall.

  • Education Table Staff
Serving at the Education Table can be a fun opportunity to support presenters, room hosts and help attendees navigate conference.  Table staff help to check-in volunteer session hosts and answer questions from presenters and attendees about the education schedule. For members who may have an interest in serving on the Conference Program Committee at some point, this provides a good glimpse into the work of this committee.

  • NIRSA Registry (RCRSP) Ambassadors
RCRSP Ambassadors should be current RCRSPs who are interested in helping staff the Registry Information Table. In this role, you help answer questions about the Registry of Collegiate Recreational Sports Professionals.

Enthusiasm for becoming an RCRSP and for helping people get informed about this credential program is helpful in this role! It is preferred that you are a current RCRSP if volunteering for this role
