There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for you to lend your time and talents to.
Education Program Proposal Reviewers
Volunteer Registration for this opportunity is currently open.
Serving as a proposal reviewer is a great way for members to get involved in crafting the NIRSA 2019 education program. All potential reviewers must be current NIRSA members. They also must have presented at a previous NIRSA education event, have an appreciation and understanding of current trends in the field, and have a solid understanding of one or more of NIRSA’s Core Competency framework domains.
Interested members will need to be available to review approximately 15-20 education proposals between June 25–July 11. While the amount of time it takes to review varies, volunteers have reported that it is typically a five-hour commitment.
If you are interested in reviewing sessions, please fill out and submit the 2019 NIRSA Annual Conference Proposal Reviewer Interest Form.

Meet and greet conference attendees as they check in, answer questions, help assemble/distribute registration materials at the NIRSA Registration Booth.
Ribbon Wall Attendance
Share information about conference ribbons and assist conference attendees with the selection of ribbons that are assigned to them.
Traffic direction volunteers are responsible for giving directions to conference attendees at posts throughout the conference facility. Attendees will expect you to have the answers to everything, so familiarize yourself with the conference schedules, the conference onsite guide, the mobile app, room locations, etc.
Campus Rec & Wellness Expo Volunteers
Tasks vary but typically include support in the NIRSA booth and at the Fitness Forum. Duties may include handing out the attendee giveaway, assisting the emcee in the expo hall, and monitoring activities in the Fitness Forum, and other activities in the Expo.
Career Services Center Volunteers
Some volunteers are charged with greeting candidates and employers, answering questions, and ensuring a smooth Career Services Center operation. Others help monitor computer usage or assist with employer mailboxes by placing information from candidates, such as resumes and correspondence letters, in mailboxes. Or you may be asked to assist in providing resume and mock interview help.
Help NIRSA recap the 2019 Annual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo. Love to take photos and videos? Interested in visually documenting your conference experience? Help us capture the excitement of this premier professional development experience. Send NIRSA your photos and videos from NIRSA 2018! Feel free to send captions—they can be as long or short as you’d like—along with your visual contributions.
Session hosting is a great way to connect with presenters and attendees. Session hosts help welcome presenter and attendees to session rooms. Hosts provide support to presenters (ie—helping to keep time, distribute materials, etc) and encourage attendees to complete session evaluations.
Education Table Staff
Serving at the Education Table can be a fun opportunity to support presenters, room hosts and help attendees navigate conference. Table staff help to check-in volunteer session hosts and answer questions from presenters and attendees about the education schedule. For members who may have an interest in serving on the Conference Program Committee at some point, this provides a good glimpse into the work of this committee.
