Sun Devil Fitness Complex Downtown

The distinctively-sculptural Sun Devil Fitness Complex (SDFC) is Arizona State University’s signature facility on the western edge of its Downtown Phoenix campus.

Designed by Gabor Lorant Architects (GLA), the building is located directly south of the Lincoln Family YMCA, which it is also connected to at its first floor. The SDFC embodies the type of cooparative business partnership that is a strategic goal of ASU’s downtown institution.

It embodies the mission of ASU to “Demonstrate leadership in academic excellence and assessibility, and enhance our local impact and social embeddedness” by co-mingling wellness and kinesiology and recreation functions.

This allows students to directly apply classroom instruction to everyday situations in the same space.

This expansion to the campus increases ASU’s presence in the revitalization of Downtown Phoenix, fostering a truly diverse and vibrant urban environment.
