Vibrant marketing is the key to raising awareness and building support for your recreational sports programs and facilities.

An engaging marketing plan allows you to draw attention and new energy to your programming while building strong relationships with your current students, staff, members, and sponsors.

This year’s Institute will be the second time that ACUI will be partnering with NIRSA to offer more sessions and diverse material. Valuable for both experienced marketers and those new to the field, the educational sessions of the NIRSA/ACUI Marketing Institute deliver winning strategies through a discussion of both current marketing trends and tried-and-true best practices.

Keynote Speaker

Kurt Foriska, 2016 NIRSA Marketing Institute - Keynote Speaker

Kurt Foriska

Chief Development Officer and Specialist Assistant to the Student Life Senior Vice President

The Ohio University

Kurt Foriska currently works to raise funds to support programs, services, and capital projects for the 40 units in the Office of Student life. Kurt previously worked as the Director of Marketing for the Ohio Union and Recreational Sports, and he began his career in sorority and fraternity life. In his spare time, he dabbles in doctoral coursework and advises Block O, the student cheering section, and Team Buckeye, a dedicated group of students who raise money for cancer research.

Keynote Description:

Marketing serves many purposes: it shapes program and service offerings, it communicates a story to particular audiences, and it creates a case for supporting the purpose of unions and campus recreation. This session will provide an overview of the marketing landscape in higher education with an emphasis on student unions and campus recreation. It will offer ideas to maximize these efforts, and discuss ways to use, defend, and garner more resources.
