Join your NIRSA colleagues and friends on Zoom for the LGBTQ & Allies virtual social on May 21 at 4:00pm EDT. Traditionally, this in-person gathering takes place at the NIRSA Annual Conference. While the 2020 Annual Conference was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the need to connect with each other is still going strong! Now more than ever, we find value in seeing familiar faces and connecting with peers.
Join us in celebrating the 2020 recipients of the Frederick R. Braden Scholarships for Social Justice in Collegiate Recreation and catching up with friends new and old.

Tips for Zoom Safety
We understand that each person’s circumstances are different and want everyone who participates in this networking opportunity to feel safe when engaging with us.
Here are a few different tips that may help you feel more comfortable engaging with us during the social:
- Using a virtual background
- Changing your displayed name – consider using an alias, initials, or nickname
- Using, changing, or removing profile picture, which is displayed when your camera is off
- Turning off camera and/or audio
- Using headphones instead of using computer speakers to listen in
We hope that you’ll join us for fellowship and celebrations!
About the Frederick R. Braden Endowment
Established by Laurie Braden in 2011 to honor her father, who dedicated his life to social justice and equality, the Frederick R. Braden Scholarship for Social Justice in Collegiate Recreation Endowment provides registration scholarships to the NIRSA Annual Conference for student and professional members who are LGBTQ and/or identify as allies. Recipients are selected because they actively work to provide an environment of inclusion and safety for LGBTQ community members in campus recreation.
