A little more than one year ago, NIRSA and NASPA Boards of Directors endorsed Health and Wellbeing in Higher Education: A Commitment to Student Success.

In the fall of 2018, half a dozen additional associations endorsed an updated version of this visionary statement.

As we head into summer this year, we are excited to announce that three more leading organizations have signed on to these ambitious goals. The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCD), and the National Consortium for Building Healthy Academic Communities (BHAC) have all recently endorsed Health and Wellbeing in Higher Education, joining the eight groups who had already pledged their support.

The full list of signatories now includes:

  • Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE)
  • American College Health Association (ACHA)
  • College Student Educators International (ACPA)
  • Association of College & University Housing Offices – International (ACUHO-I)
  • Association of College Unions International (ACUI)
  • Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCD)
  • National Association for Campus Activities (NACA)
  • Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA)
  • National Consortium for Building Healthy Academic Communities (BHAC)
  • NIRSA – Leaders in Collegiate Recreation
  • Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention in Higher Education (NODA)

NIRSA is proud to share the news with our members about the new signatories of this statement; growing support extends the influence of these ideas and becomes even more inclusive in its commitment to supporting wellbeing in higher education.

The wellbeing statement highlights strategic commitments from these associations in pursuit of innovating, supporting, and fostering a holistic, integrated, and strategic approach to wellbeing from the association level to the institutional level.
