Directors working in campus recreation and those who supervise the chief decision makers in campus recreation looking for a learning opportunity this summer will want to learn more about the all-star content team putting together the 2019 NIRSA Directors Institute program.

Teri Bladen

Teri L. Bladen, RCRSP has served as the Director of Campus Recreation at Weber State University for the past ten years where she has grown the department from four full-time staff and 30 student staff to ten full-time staff and over 100 student staff. She has been involved in designing and opening recreational facility projects at both the WSU-Ogden and WSU-Davis campuses as well as fitness assessment labs and fitness centers in residence halls.

Teri has her MS in Kinesiology from Indiana University, and is a graduate of NIRSA’s School of Recreational Sports Management. She has worked professionally at the University of Illinois, University of Northern Colorado, Indiana University, Arizona State University, as well as in private and corporate fitness sectors.

André Love

André Love serves as Executive Director of University Recreation for The University of Alabama. He leads the Department of University Recreation, which is uniquely situated within the Division of Student Life’s Student Health and Wellbeing Team. The team provides collaborative opportunities between the Counseling Center, Collegiate Recovery & Intervention Services, and the Student Health Center and Pharmacy. He also serves as the Student Life Emergency Preparedness Representative.

André holds a MS in Physical Education from Eastern Michigan University and a BS in Recreation Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. He has extensive experience in the administration and management of collegiate recreation programs, services, and facilities, and has previously held positions in a variety of recreation roles.

Todd Misener, PhD, CHES

Todd Misener, PhD, CHES, is the Chief Wellness Officer at Oklahoma State University. He has worked as a professional in campus wellness and recreation for over 20 years and is currently serving as Chief Wellness Officer for America’s Healthiest Campus, Oklahoma State University.

Rich Mylin

In 2017, UC San Diego chose to combine the department of Sports Facilities and Recreation. Rich Mylin was honored to become the Director of Recreation which unified the work of both departments. As Director of Recreation at UC San Diego, Rich Mylin manages a staff of 70+ that “inspire all Tritons to lead an active life.” Rich was fortunate to graduate from UCLA and twenty years later receive his master’s degree from California State University, Northridge. After graduating from UCLA, Rich managed the Men’s Gym at UCLA and parlayed that into a tremendously fulfilling 24 years at UCLA Recreation in a variety of roles. Two of the many highlights at UCLA were the building of Spieker Aquatics Center and the renovation of Pauley Pavilion. He left UCLA in 2016 to take the position of Director of Sports Facilities at UC San Diego.

Tara Parker

Tara Parker is the Executive Director of the Department of Sports and Recreation at Kennesaw State University (KSU). She received her BA from North Carolina State University and worked with Lee County Parks and Recreation for a couple of years before eventually accepting a position at Kennesaw State University. While she’s been at KSU, the department has experienced considerable evolution, including the completion of a significant expansion/renovation facility project.
