The NIRSA Research & Assessment Committee is currently accepting proposals for 2019 NIRSA Research Grants. Proposed research should align with the NIRSA Research Agenda and the NIRSA 2018-2021 Strategic Plan. Additional consideration may be given to proposals that advance the understanding of the role of recreation on student health and wellbeing. For 2019, grant awards will no longer be capped at $10,000. Rather, proposals may request any funding amount up to $32,000. The deadline to submit proposals is Sunday, June 30. Eligibility information and submission guidelines are available on the NIRSA Research Grant website.

2018 grant recipients included Dianna Clauss, Director of Recreation at Rider University, for her project “The impact of a comprehensive student health and wellbeing program on the retention rate of residential first year students” and Dr. Laura Morris, Assistant Professor of Recreation, Sport Leadership, & Tourism at UNC Wilmington, for her project “Multi-institutional assessment of the relationship between campus recreation participation and psychological wellbeing.” Additional recipients of the 2018 NIRSA Research Grant can be found on the NIRSA website. The results of these projects will be presented at the 2020 NIRSA Annual Conference in Phoenix Arizona.
