This past year, 2017, was a year of firsts for the NIRSA National Soccer Tournament. Such firsts included open applications for host sites for regional soccer tournaments, and the first year of incorporating student officials during the NIRSA National Soccer Tournament. We also had our first Assistant Director of Officials serve the tournament in 2017. We look forward to even more firsts as we move through 2018.

With all firsts, we must take a moment to thank those who have brought us to the stage on which we currently stand. We want to extend a grand thank you to all those that have served the NIRSA National Championship Series Soccer in many ways. Thank you to the past directors for defining and embracing the standards which we hold dear. Thank you to the past NIRSA Champion Series Chairs and NSC Board Members for the support of the years. Thank you to all the volunteers that we value so much across our NIRSA membership. Thank you to all that have been a part of our past; we bring this next step with much appreciation and excitement.

Officials for the 2018-2019 NIRSA Soccer season

2018 marks the first year NIRSA National Championship Soccer will accept applications for the Director of Officials position with the National Soccer Tournament. This position plays a pivotal role in the recruitment of officials, development of crews, scheduling of officials, and continuous evaluation and engagement for the officiating staff at the National Tournament.

The staff for this event ranges from first-year to veteran officials, but all the officials hold the NISOA certification for collegiate officiating. NIRSA is excited about continuing and growing our partnership with NISOA as we plan our 2018 National Championships in Foley, AL.

Applications are due soon

The continued evolution of this prestigious tournament is committed to finding innovative ways to integrate and develop student officials, and we are currently looking for NIRSA members interested in cultivating this future.

We are looking for applicants who are current NIRSA and NISOA members as well as have experience officiating at multiple levels across the high school and college circuits. Applications for the Director of Officials closes on April 16.

We encourage all members to consider this opportunity as way to give back to the association as well as to contribute to the bright future we have in NIRSA Soccer.
