The NIRSA regional basketball championships are about to begin! At stake for the winners of these 12 tournaments are automatic bids to the 2018 NIRSA National Basketball Championships, which will be hosted by The Ohio State University April 20–22. Teams will demonstrate their dedication, efforts, skills, and sportsmanship in a battle for a chance at a National Championship title.

The first of the regional tournaments will take place at the University of Dayton during the weekend of February 9–11 where the anticipation of who will be attending the National Championships in Columbus, Ohio will thicken. The eagerness is expected to grow as we progress through the regional tournaments week by week.

Securing an automatic bid through a regional championship isn’t the only way to get in on the action at the National Championships. Registration for the NIRSA National Basketball Championships remains open and can be accessed through the online registration site. The deadline to register is April 6.

Make sure your school’s best teams don’t miss out! There are options for men’s and women’s teams in both the club and intramural divisions. NIRSA is also partnering with the Special Olympics for a second consecutive year in expansion of our Unified League! Here eight teams comprised of Special Olympics athletes and college students will compete for a national honor.

Make sure to keep an eye on all the action as teams battle it out on the basketball courts by following @NIRSAChamp on Twitter. Want to join the conversation?
