Registration is now open for the inaugural NIRSA Directors Institute taking place June 25–27, 2018 at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona! Registration for this premier educational and networking retreat for campus recreation directors and chief administrators will be capped at 60 people on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t wait to claim your spot!

Member-driven programming

The program is being developed by four respected leaders from the field: David Bowles, University of Florida; Deb Johnson, UC Davis; André Love, University of Alabama; and Laurie Braden, Louisiana State University.

Laurie remarks that this event has been in the making for some time. “Its origins go back at least as far as my time serving on the NIRSA Board of Directors,” she says. “This is truly a member-driven event, and so many members have volunteered time and energy through the Executive Education Task Force to lay the groundwork for what I fully expect to be a productive and insightful experience for some of the most influential figures in campus recreation—our fellow directors!”

A unique opportunity for directors and chief administrators

With member-driven content and representatives from a diverse range of programs, the Directors Institute will be an amazing opportunity to engage in a dialogue about key issues and challenges in collegiate recreation and higher education specifically through the lens of department leadership.

“Most of the programming at NIRSA institutes and conferences is geared toward professionals who haven’t yet reached the director level of the profession,” explains Laurie. “This Institute will be different: 100% of the program will be developed with directors/chief administrators in mind. So, directors will surely benefit from meaningful dialogue amidst the inclusive and inviting NIRSA atmosphere that has become a hallmark of this association.”

Prospective attendees are also encouraged to suggest topics and trends for discussion.
