November’s #RecChat “Competitive Sports” brought up some great conversation from some very enthusiastic tweeters. With tweets from the @RecChat handle earning over 9,300 impressions over the weeks leading up to this conversation and 6,800 impressions the day of the event, many recreation professionals were happy to engage in the discussion.

Notably, Scott Flickinger, Director of Intramural Sports at Cornell University, was dropping knowledge directly from Foley, Alabama using his twitter handle @FlickFlackSays. Scott was helping out at the 2016 @NIRSAChamp Series National Soccer Tournament, but still took time out of his busy schedule to contribute to an amazing #RecChat.

Some of the great topics covered during the conversation included intramural staff and sport clubs officer development and evaluation, innovative programming, and new participant recruitment. The Twitter conversation was a fantastic way to connect with other members of the recreation community and share ideas related to competitive sports.

Don’t worry if you missed out on the “Competitive Sports” #RecChat. A full transcript of the conversation can be found in the NIRSA Connect Library. Check it out—you’ll definitely learn something new.

#RecChat will return in February with a conversation all about preparing for the 2017 NIRSA Annual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo taking place in National Harbor, MD from February 21–24. We’re already looking forward to connecting with you all then!
