The national conference is always a highlight of my year! It creates an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, build new relationships, learn about the trends and hot topics in our field, support our association and celebrate our accomplishments, all in one location.
Lexi Chaput, Assistant Director of Club Sports at the University of Michigan
The NIRSA Annual Conference helps me think differently about my daily work which brings new ideas into our department and challenges us to consider new strategies and programs. I love the opportunity to problem solve with the best in the industry. Thank you NIRSA!
Cindy Cowden, Associate Director of Facilities and Internal Operations at Binghamton University
NIRSA 2016 was a great opportunity to network with colleagues, learn from others, and experience everything Orlando has to offer. Attending NIRSA reassures me that I am in the correct field and have the ability to impact lives.
Steven Trotter, Assistant Director for Fitness Programs at Virginia Tech
Thanks NIRSA! My second time in attendance and my second time being super-impressed with the organization, professionalism and effectiveness of the sessions. Can’t wait to implement some amazing ideas and return to my next NIRSA conference!
Angie Wood, , Fitness Coordinator at Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology
The conference provided everything I was looking for in one convenient location – exhibitors for equipment we need as well as professional development, networking and socializing opportunities.
Debbie Marinoff Shupe, Manager of Recreation Services at McMaster University
The 2016 NIRSA Annual Conference was inspiring, refreshing, and re-energizing! I love attending the conference to reconnect with friends and colleagues throughout NIRSA and to find ways to better myself, my organization, and collegiate recreation as a whole. I always leave feeling motivated to make positive change and I’m already looking forward to next year’s conference!
Phelan Fletcher, Intramural Sports and Youth Programs Coordinator at Kent State University
The NIRSA Annual Conference is a great way to discover new programming ideas, reconnect with old friends, and showcase our profession to new students. Each year I attend the conference I am reinvigorated for the coming academic year. I am reminded of the end goal of campus recreation and always look forward to coming back to my campus to watch my students develop.
Nick Singer, Assistant Director of Intramural Activities at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
The NIRSA annual conference continues to be an integral part of my professional development. Every year my experience evolves and I am so thankful for the opportunity to now be able to give back to the community that has given me so much. My greatest experience at the 2016 NIRSA conference in Florida was my first take a student to lunch experience. I felt as if that interaction made my experience come full circle. Once a student and now a professional, I am now able to reach out and help the next generation of recreation professionals. It’s a small way that we can each help create a bright future for our association.
Jonecia Mahan, Member Services Supervisor at San Diego State University
The NIRSA Annual Conference is always one of the highlights of the academic year. It provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with my NIRSA family, attend educational sessions, learn about the latest equipment and products, and enhance my professional development.
Stan Campbell, Associate Vice Chancellor and Director of Campus Recreation at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
The time and effort that the host and program committees put in to this annual conference and recreational sports expo was evident from the moment we arrived. The way sessions were “reinvented” and the content and quality of the offerings is to be commended. Great job to all involved!
Kelly Janos, Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation at Salem State University
Attending the 2016 Annual Conference was just another reminder of why I am so in love with this field. NIRSA continues to be the biggest and happiest family reunion that I’ve ever been a part of. During the course of my short and growing campus rec career, I have seen conferences only improve with each year and it keeps me continuously excited for the future of NIRSA and collegiate recreation. There is truly something for everyone, and I think we all leave feeling refreshed and better about who we are and what we do.
Jenny Rodgers, Graduate Assistant, Events and Scheduling at Clemson University
This was my first time attending a NIRSA Conference and it will definitely not be my last. I had an amazing time meeting new people, networking, attending educational sessions and meeting potential employers in the COC. This was truly the most fun and entertaining conference I have ever been to and I loved how open and friendly everyone was. I cannot wait until next year in Washington DC!
Taylor Hubbard, Building Manager at Titan Recreation at California State University, Fullerton
