If coming to the 2017 NIRSA Annual Conference & Campus Rec and Wellness Expo wasn’t exciting enough, the Host Committee has compiled a list of Top Ten Things to do When Visiting Washington D.C. to take things to the next level.

Looking for a great activity to take part in after all full day of learning? We can help you with that. If you’re a history buff, then there are few places in the U.S. better than Washington D.C. to get your history fix. There are several museums close by the Gaylord National and most are free to visit— most notable among those is the world’s largest museum, the Smithsonian! Also, don’t pass up the opportunity to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture which opened this past September. Don’t forget that NIRSA’s history is part of this country’s African American history as well.

Are you a nature lover? D.C. has something for you too! Visit the living plant museum that is the US Botanical Gardens and Conservatory, celebrate the National Park Service’s 100th birthday at Rock Creek Park, or visit the National Zoo to see Bao Bao, the giant panda, before she moves to China.

Interested in something a little quieter? Don’t forget that the Library of Congress is the largest library in the world! Grab a book off the shelf and lose yourself in the pages.

And for you sports lovers out there looking to extend their D.C. stay, the Washington Wizards are taking on the Utah Jazz the night of Sunday, February 26.

Whatever your interests are, Washington D.C. has you covered. We can’t wait to see you at NIRSA 2017! Register today and take advantage of fantastic early bird rates!
