Since 1977, the Recreational Sports Journal (RSJ) has been the premier scholarly journal in the field of collegiate recreation. The information disseminated over the past 40 years has informed generations of recreation professionals and continues to keep NIRSA professional members, researchers, and others abreast of the latest findings in our field.

As a benefit of NIRSA membership, all individual members receive a subscription to the RSJ. On November 1, NIRSA changed the RSJ subscription process so that members are now asked to select the version of the RSJ that they wish to receive—either online, print, or both. Right now, every member’s preference is listed as for the online version only. If members wish to continue receiving the printed version of the RSJ, they must complete the following steps:

  1. Go to nirsa.me and log in.
  2. Click on “Edit Your NIRSA Profile” in the left column under the “Contact Details” heading.
  3. Click on the “Communication Prefs”
  4. Click on the “Please mail me a printed Recreational Sports Journal” check box (third box from the top).
  5. Click “Save.”

If members do not complete these steps, they will no longer receive the printed RSJ but they will continue to have access to the RSJ via their online subscription. By clicking the box in Step 4, members will receive both subscriptions. If this box remains unchecked, members will only receive the online subscription. There is no additional cost to receive the printed version nor will any other membership costs or other member benefits be affected. This change simply enhances our commitment to sustainability while meeting the needs of our dynamic association.
