The schedule for the 2017 NIRSA Annual Conference & Expo—which will take place from February 21–24 in National Harbor, MD—has been updated to reflect some recent changes. Please use this overview schedule to plan the outline of your NIRSA 2017 experience! A number of notable changes in comparison to past years have been made.

For last year’s conference, the Student Leadership Team planned a very successful “Student/First-Time Conference Attendee Kick-Off” information session that replaced the social by the same name. In 2017, the name of this session has been updated to “Navigating NIRSA 2017.” This session is still intended for all first-time conference attendees. It will be held in between the conclusion of preconference workshops and trips and before the start of the Opening General Session.

The Conference Welcome Reception & Social, presented by PLAE, takes place immediately following the Opening General Session. It will be held in the Cherry Blossom and Woodrow Wilson Ballrooms at the Gaylord National. Plan to meet your colleagues old and new, and make plans for the rest of the conference.

In 2016, a re-envisioned Annual Meeting of Members combined the meeting with a panel discussion on issues facing higher education. Due to the popularity of the panel, these two events have been pulled apart at NIRSA 2017. There will be a standalone panel discussion on “Creating a Culture of Wellbeing” as well as an Annual Meeting of Members. The 2017 Annual Meeting of Members will be held as a concurrent session on the afternoon of Thursday, February 23. Members interested in hearing updates about the state of the Association, strategic plan accomplishments, and a look ahead to the future from Association leaders should make time to attend this session.

Due to possible weather concerns, the NIRSA Foundation Golf Tournament won’t be offered in 2017. Instead, the Foundation is excited to offer a Corporate Auction as one of its conference fundraisers. The Foundation is also looking into alternative ideas for the Mark Fletcher Fun Run/Walk because of the DC area’s likely February weather. Stay tuned for more information as planning for this new and exciting event develops.

And, finally, the Campus Rec & Wellness Expo Grand Opening will kick off on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 22 and run through 2:30pm on Thursday, February 23.

We can’t wait to see you in National Harbor this February! NIRSA 2017 is sure to be a conference you won’t want to miss. Register for the event today and take advantage of early bird pricing.
