For the third year in a row, NIRSA used a lottery drawing to decide which teams would participate in the 2016 NIRSA National Soccer Championships Open Division. The event was broadcast live from NIRSA Headquarters in Corvallis, Oregon on October 4 at 4:00pm EST.

Ninety teams watched in suspense as the 48 available spots were filled one by one. The 42 teams that weren’t selected were placed on a waitlist—and they shouldn’t give up hope yet. A few of the teams selected in the lottery will qualify for the Championship Division through regional tournaments; they will need to be replaced in the Open Division by a waitlisted team.

The City of Foley, Alabama, and the Foley Sports Tourism Complex are acting as tournament hosts for the 23rd Annual NIRSA National Soccer Championships. The games will take place November 17-19 at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex.

Congratulations to the following teams which were selected for the 2016 NIRSA National Soccer Championships Open Division, and best of luck to the teams competing for a bid in the Championship Division!
