NIRSA Championship Series regional basketball is pleased to announce eleven outstanding sites for the 2017 season! The excitement begins February 10–12 with the first regional championships and will continue up through March 17–19 when the last tournaments will take place. Ultimately, the fate of these tournaments will lead to Columbus where The Ohio State University is playing host for the second year in a row. The 2017 NIRSA National Basketball Championships will occur at OSU from April 21–23.

NIRSA Championship Series Basketball has established a name for itself as a fantastic platform for competition and play. With a wonderful group of regional hosts, we expect nothing less than another year full of fun yet competitive tournaments! The NIRSA Championship Series Basketball Work Team has been working hard to guarantee the season runs smoothly for all involved.

The following regional sites were chosen. They will present vast participation and development opportunities for a large number of players, officials, and staff:

  • February 10–12, Boston University
  • February 10–12, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
  • February 17–19, University of Maryland
  • March 3–5, Georgia Tech
  • March 3–5, UCLA
  • March 3–5, University of Houston
  • March 3–5, University of Nebraska- Lincoln
  • March 10–12, University of Florida
  • March 10–12, University of Oregon
  • March 17–19, University of Massachusetts Amherst
  • March 17–19, Western Michigan University

First-time regional basketball host sites include UCLA and Western Michigan University. Basketball Work Team Chair and Coordinator of Intramurals and Sport Clubs at Loyola University Chicago Megan Morris says, “The Basketball Work Team had the privilege and honor to select this year’s outstanding basketball regional host sites. We are very appreciative of all the applicants who provided us with great options and difficult decisions on who to select. It is very exciting to see that so many schools and NIRSA members are invested in provided high-quality programming, competition, and student development opportunities for players, officials, and staff.
