By David Peters, RCRSP, Member Network Chair, and Associate Director at Florida State University

The NIRSA Member Network happily announces the appointment of Heather Foster, Assistant Director of Member Services at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, as the new Region V Representative.

Previous Region V Representative Jeff Huskey, formerly the Wellness Center Director at South Dakota State University, accepted a new position as Director of Recreation at the University of California–Santa Barbara. Given the Member Network’s requirement for regional representatives to work and reside in the region that they serve, Jeff tendered his resignation to the Member Network—effective April 30—and has been helpful assisting with the transition to a new regional leader.

The Member Network extends its sincere appreciation to Jeff for his leadership and commitment to NIRSA members. NIRSA’s leadership wishes him the best in his new role in Region VI and looks forward to Jeff’s involvement with the NIRSA community in other capacities in the years to come.

Heather had previously been serving as the Colorado/Wyoming State Director and was recently elected by the Member Network to fulfill the remainder of Jeff’s term (2015–2017). Her passion for collegiate recreation and experience serving the Association will be helpful as she settles into her new Member Network role. Heather has been at Colorado State University for seven years, where she received her Student Affairs and Higher Education Certificate in 2013. She received a master’s degree from James Madison University in 2010 and her bachelor’s from the University of California, Davis in 2008.

She has served on numerous NIRSA committees, received the William Wasson Student Leadership and Academic Award, and is a two-time NIRSA Foundation scholarship recipient. Locally, she served on the 2015 Region V Conference Host Committee, served as a state director, and is very active on the CSU campus where she serves on many departmental and campus-wide committees. NIRSA extends a hearty welcome and congratulations to Heather. We are delighted to have her expertise and enthusiasm on board!

The Member Network, which consists of NIRSA’s regional representatives and the Student Leadership Team, focuses its efforts on outreach, engagement, advocacy, networking, oversight of NIRSA’s state and provincial directors and student leaders, and the facilitation of regional educational opportunities.
