Having championed the phrase “It’s more than competition,” the NIRSA Championship Series produces events known not only for their outstanding student athlete performance but also for the development opportunities they provide student officials and professional staff. Don’t miss out on the chance to send student officials and professional staff members to this year’s NIRSA National Flag Football Championship—take advantage of Institutional Registration!

A relatively-new offering by the NIRSA Championship Series, Institutional Registration guarantees that an institution’s student officials and university staff—in addition to its intramural and sport club teams—are part of an event. It also gives participating university recreation programs an opportunity to be identified on a national level.

Institutional Registration comes in three different levels—Gold, Silver, and Bronze—each corresponding to a different degree of involvement in and recognition at the NIRSA National Championships. More detailed information about the three levels—what they offer institutions, how much they cost, etc.—can be found on the NIRSA website. The deadline to register for an Institutional Registration is Thursday, October 1.

The University of Florida has taken advantage of Institutional Registration since it was first offered two years ago. David Bowles, Director at the University of Florida and member of the NIRSA Services Corporation Board, explains that “Institutional Registration gives a university the opportunity to be recognized for supporting a NIRSA Championship Series event. Investing in the championship events supports my university’s mission by developing students—specifically, by developing their leadership skills.” He continues, “Whether playing, officiating, or working on the staff, students involved in NIRSA Championship Series events are exposed to a diverse experience as they interact with peers from the US and Mexico in a competitive, collegial environment. What our students bring back to campus is invaluable.”

“As the past chair of the NIRSA Championship Series, I have been fortunate to hear and see firsthand how institutions benefit tremendously from having the foresight to invest in Institutional Registration,” says Stephanie McAlpine, Assistant Director at the University of Texas at Arlington. “Institutional Registration allows a school’s teams, staff, and officials to plan for participating in the top-quality NIRSA National Championships from the very start of the intramural season.”

The NIRSA Championship Series would like to recognize and thank the institutions that took advantage of Institutional Registration in 2014:

  • University of Florida—Gold
  • University of Southern Mississippi—Gold
  • Texas A&M University—Silver
  • Georgia Southern University—Silver
  • Florida State University—Bronze
  • Louisiana State University—Bronze
  • University of Central Florida—Bronze

Take advantage of Institutional Registrations with the NIRSA Championship Series today and elevate your intramurals program to the next level!
