NIRSA wants to provide its membership with resources and best practices when it comes to current trends in the field. With this goal in mind, the Association annually conducts the NIRSA Collegiate Trends Research Project sponsored by Precor, a NIRSA Platinum partner. After reviewing the number of great project topics submitted by members this year, the NIRSA Board of Directors and the NIRSA Assembly selected “Technology” as the new topic. The Board and Assembly would like to offer a special thanks to all NIRSA members who took the time to submit ideas!

NIRSA, with the support of Precor, will now begin to investigate how technology is enhancing the value of collegiate recreation. The methodology for this project will include a literature review coupled with an in-depth analysis of campuses that have made advancements with using technology to foster student wellbeing. NIRSA will then publish a white paper that will report findings on the current use of technology in campus recreation and, subsequently, expand the resources that add value to our membership. The results will also be presented at the 2015 NIRSA Annual Conference & Recreational Sports Expo occurring in Grapevine, Texas from March 30–April 2.

We’d like to now call on our NIRSA community for help as we begin data and information collection. Has your campus made significant advancements utilizing technology to enhance the experience of students and the value of campus recreation? Would you like to share your findings and best practices with the research team working on this project? Please email NIRSA Membership for specifics on the program, and don’t miss your chance to contribute to the latest collegiate recreation research!
